Sumit, a 27-year-old resident of Sahampur village in Haryana's Jind district, recently made headlines after sharing his harrowing experience of a 7-month journey through 12 countries in an attempt to reach the United States, only to be deported just 12 days after arrival. He has alleged that he was a victim of human trafficking, having paid 50 lakh rupees to agents who promised him a better life abroad, but instead subjected him to physical and mental torture during his journey.
