Surafel Getahun

Surafel Getahun is an Ethiopian geopolitical researcher currently in exile in Kenya. He has been vocal about the severe divisions within Ethiopian society under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's administration, attributing the country's fragmentation to ethnic polarization, weak governance, and widespread arrests. Getahun has faced threats to his safety, including arrest and torture in 2024 for speaking to foreign media about these issues, highlighting the deteriorating civic space and increasing political strife in Ethiopia.
