
Svetlana Broz
Svetlana Broz, a prominent cardiologist and human rights activist, passed away at the age of 70 in Belgrade. She was the author of several influential books, including the acclaimed 'Good People in Evil Times,' which has been translated into six languages. As the founder and director of the NGO 'Gariwo' in Sarajevo, Broz was a pioneer in promoting civic courage in Europe through education and public lectures. Her contributions to peace studies and civic engagement are notable, having co-authored numerous works in the field and produced over 40 documentary films. Broz held teaching positions at many prestigious universities in both the United States and Europe and received several prestigious awards for her humanitarian efforts, including the National Order of Merit from France and the L'Ambrogino d'Oro from Italy. She was also honored as a Righteous Among the Nations in Milan, Italy. Her cremation is scheduled for March 26 at the New Cemetery in Belgrade.
