Syed is a notorious conman who orchestrated a multimillion-dollar fraud through his company, Western Gulf Advisory, which claimed to provide loans to businesses but instead defrauded clients, leading to significant financial ruin for many victims. After a lengthy 14-year manhunt, Syed was finally arrested in London in late 2022 on a Swiss warrant for fraud, and he has since been convicted, although he is contesting the verdicts.
