Bubka won an Olympic gold medal in 1996 and claimed six World Championship titles, making him one of the most decorated athletes in the sport's history. His influence on pole vaulting is profound, as he held the world record for outdoor pole vault at 614 cm for two decades until it was surpassed by Renaud Lavillenie in 2014.
