Taina Elg was Finland's first Hollywood actress and remains the only Finnish recipient of a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Born in 1930 in Helsinki, she began her career as a ballerina before transitioning to film in the 1950s. Elg gained fame for her performances in Hollywood musicals and won two Golden Globes, including one for her role in 'Les Girls' (1957). Despite her early success, she faced challenges as the film industry began to shift towards television, prompting her to move to New York and continue her career on stage and in various television productions. Elg passed away on May 15, 2023, at the age of 95.
