Taina Malena

Dr. Taina Malena is a neonatal specialist and the head of the Neonatal Area at the Servicio Nacional de Salud (SNS) in the Dominican Republic. She has been instrumental in the implementation and evaluation of the Hypothermia Therapy Program, which aims to reduce neurological disabilities in newborns suffering from moderate to severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). Under her guidance, the program has successfully helped 18 babies avoid cerebral palsy, marking a significant advancement in neonatal care in the country.
