Tal al-Mallohi

Tal al-Mallohi is a Syrian blogger who gained international attention for her outspoken criticism of the Syrian government, particularly her poignant writings about the Palestinian issue. At just 20 years old, she was arrested in 2009 for her blog posts and subsequently sentenced to five years in prison for her views. Her case became emblematic of the repressive regime's crackdown on free speech, especially in the context of the Arab Spring uprisings that swept through the region. After the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2022, she was released alongside many other political prisoners, highlighting the regime's efforts to silence dissenting voices.
