Tarek Baderkhan

Tarek Baderkhan is a 33-year-old activist and freelance journalist who became involved in the Syrian revolution in 2011. He lived under siege in Homs from 2012 to 2014 before being exiled and returned to the city in December 2023. Baderkhan reflects on his mixed feelings about returning to a city that holds painful memories of friends lost and the destruction of his neighborhood, Khalidiya. He faces challenges of reintegration in a post-conflict society, grappling with anger and resentment among those who returned and those who stayed during the war.
