Ted Shawn

Ted Shawn was an influential American dancer, choreographer, and the co-founder of the Denishawn School of Dance, which he established with his wife, Ruth St Denis. His work was notable for its emphasis on male dancers and the incorporation of folk dance elements. Shawn's commitment to elevating dance as a respected art form helped to lay the groundwork for modern dance and inspired many dancers, including Martha Graham, who trained under him.
