Teresa Rita Lopes

Teresa Rita Lopes was a renowned Portuguese writer, poet, playwright, essayist, and researcher, celebrated as one of the foremost experts on the works of Fernando Pessoa. Born in Faro in 1937, she began engaging with Pessoa's poetry at a young age, which later led her to pursue a PhD on his influence. An influential figure in the literary community, Lopes was recognized with numerous awards throughout her career, including the Prémio Cidade de Lisboa and the Grande Prémio de Teatro. Her scholarly contributions were vital in preserving Pessoa's legacy, including efforts to prevent the sale of his literary estate abroad. Lopes passed away in Almada at the age of 87, leaving behind a significant impact on Pessoa studies and Portuguese literature.
