Terry Draper was a Canadian musician, best known as the drummer of the progressive-pop trio Klaatu, which gained fame in the 1970s for their mysterious identity and Beatles-esque sound. Born on September 22, 1951, in Toronto, Draper joined Klaatu in 1974 and played a significant role in their success, notably co-writing the hit 'Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft.' The band initially sought anonymity to let their music speak for itself, leading to speculation that they were secretly the Beatles. Despite their critical acclaim and cult following, Klaatu's commercial success waned after the truth about their identity was revealed. After the band disbanded, Draper continued to write and release music, ultimately leaving a lasting legacy in the Canadian music scene. He passed away from leukemia on May 15, 2023, at the age of 73.
