Thomas Lynch Jr.

Thomas Lynch Jr. was a prominent delegate from South Carolina who signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Despite his significant contributions to the American Revolution, his life was tragically cut short when he and his wife disappeared at sea during a storm while attempting to flee to the Caribbean for better health.
