Thorvaldsen
Bertel Thorvaldsen was a Danish sculptor born in 1770, renowned for his neoclassical works that often depicted themes from mythology and history. His most famous pieces include statues of classical figures and a series of works for the Church of Our Lady in Copenhagen. Thorvaldsen spent a significant portion of his career in Italy, where he became a prominent figure in the art community and was highly influential in the development of neoclassical art in Europe. He returned to Denmark in 1838, where he continued to create art until his death in 1844.
