Tienkung, also known as the Tiangong space station, is China's modular space station that began construction in 2021. It has recently been in the news due to the discovery of previously unknown microorganisms, specifically a new bacterium named Niallia tiangongensis, which has adapted to the unique conditions of the station, including higher background radiation.
