Tim Woodfield
Tim Woodfield is a prominent professor and researcher at the University of Otago, leading the Christchurch Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Engineering (CReaTE) group. His innovative work focuses on using 3D bioprinting technology to create human tissues, particularly targeting the regeneration of damaged knee joints. Woodfield's team has developed a unique modular, 'Lego-like' method for assembling micro-tissues, which allows for the precise replication of complex tissue structures. Recently, his research was highlighted for being selected to join a significant multimillion-dollar project funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe initiative, aimed at developing personalized, scalable tissue grafts for cartilage repair.
