Timár Sándor was a renowned Hungarian folk dancer, choreographer, and educator, celebrated for his significant contributions to Hungarian folk dance and dance pedagogy. Born into a peasant family in Szolnok, he dedicated his life to the promotion and teaching of traditional dance, founding the Bartók Béla Dance Ensemble and leading the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble for over 16 years. His innovative teaching methods and choreography have influenced numerous dancers and choreographers, making him a pivotal figure in the Hungarian folk dance scene. He received multiple prestigious awards, including the Kossuth Prize and the title of National Artist.
