Tita Torres

Tita Torres is a prominent activist and one of the coordinators of the Equipo Central de Auditoras Sociales, a group that has been critical of the Instituto Nacional de las Mujeres (Inamu) in Costa Rica. Recently, she has been in the news for her strong statements condemning the government's selective interest in cases of gender-based violence, particularly in light of allegations against Randall Zúñiga, the director of the Organismo de Investigación Judicial (OIJ). Torres has emphasized the importance of protecting women's rights and has criticized the political manipulation of cases involving sexual violence, arguing that the government has failed to address the ongoing crisis of femicides in the country.
