Tithonus is a figure from Greek mythology, most famously known as the mortal lover of the goddess Eos (the dawn). In a desire to keep him by her side forever, Eos asked Zeus to grant him immortality, but she forgot to request eternal youth. As a result, Tithonus aged indefinitely, eventually turning into a cicada, symbolizing the inevitability of aging despite the desire for everlasting life.
