
Tokugawa Yoshinobu
Tokugawa Yoshinobu (1837-1913) was the 15th and last shōgun of the Tokugawa shogunate in Japan. He played a pivotal role in the political upheaval that led to the Meiji Restoration in 1868, which marked the end of feudal rule in Japan and the restoration of imperial power. After losing authority, he actively participated in the transitional government but ultimately retired from political life.
