
Tom Finney
Tom Finney was a legendary English footballer, widely regarded as one of the greatest wingers in the history of the sport. Born on April 5, 1922, in Preston, Lancashire, he spent his entire professional career at Preston North End, where he made over 400 appearances and scored more than 200 goals. Finney was known for his exceptional dribbling skills, agility, and sportsmanship, earning him the nickname 'The Preston Plumber' due to his trade before football. He represented England on 76 occasions, scoring 30 goals, and was a key player in the national team during the 1950s. Finney's contributions to football were recognized with his induction into the English Football Hall of Fame and his appointment as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). He passed away on February 14, 2023, leaving behind a lasting legacy in English football.
