
Tõnis Erilaid
Tõnis Erilaid (1943-2025) was a prominent Estonian journalist and media personality, known for his extensive career in journalism that began in 1971 at Õhtuleht, where he later served as editor-in-chief from 1992 to 1996. A graduate of Tartu University with a degree in Estonian language and literature, Erilaid also hosted popular radio programs on Vikerraadio and Kuku Radio, significantly contributing to the Estonian media landscape. He earned numerous accolades, including the title of Distinguished Journalist of the Estonian SSR in 1989, the Golden Microphone award in 2013, and the Order of the White Star in 2022, reflecting his lifelong dedication to journalism. His influence and legacy were recognized with a lifetime achievement award from the Estonian Media Enterprises Union in 2024.
