Tonko Šoljan

Tonko Šoljan was a prominent Croatian ichthyologist, celebrated for his significant contributions to the study of fish species in the Adriatic Sea. His seminal work, 'Ribe Jadrana' published in 1948, detailed the characteristics of various fish, including the Acipenser huso (huso), and has since served as a foundational reference in marine biology. Despite the drastic decline in the populations of some species he documented, his research remains crucial for understanding the biodiversity of the Adriatic.
