
Tosca Pinas
Tosca Pinas is a trailblazing Surinamese woman who recently made history as the first female graduate from the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden, completing her master's degree in Maritime Affairs with a specialization in Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration. Throughout her fourteen-month program, Pinas distinguished herself not only academically but also through her leadership, serving as president of the WMU Women’s Association and earning nominations for prestigious awards such as the Kalmar Prize. Her commitment to mentorship and community engagement highlights her role as an inspiration for underrepresented women in the maritime sector. Following her graduation, she took on a leadership role as Assistant Manager in the Maritime Administration at the Maritime Authority of Suriname and is also the chair of the Women in Maritime Association, Caribbean, Chapter Suriname, aiming to inspire future generations of maritime professionals.
