He gained prominence during the 1980s, particularly with his film 'La Vengeance de la sirène' (1984), which has recently been rediscovered and restored for modern audiences. Ikeda's early career included a stint in erotic film production, after which he co-founded the independent Director’s Company, collaborating with notable directors like Kiyoshi Kurosawa.
