Trevor Hickey

Trevor Hickey is an associate professor and course director of the teacher education programme for construction studies at the University of Limerick. He has authored Leaving Cert textbooks on construction studies and has been a vocal advocate for the subject, highlighting concerns about the potential 'dumbing down' of its syllabus. Hickey recently resigned from the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment's (NCCA) subject development group, arguing that the proposed changes to the curriculum could undermine the subject's status as a STEM discipline, which could impact students' future opportunities in higher education.
