TU Mehta

TU Mehta is a former Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court, who chaired the Mehta Commission that examined the disturbances during the Assam agitation in 1983. His recently released report, which also discusses the Nellie massacre, presents a contrasting viewpoint to the Tewary Commission, attributing some of the unrest to earlier violent incidents involving migrant Muslims and Assamese communities.
