Tumohe

Tumohe is a recent graduate from Otago Medical School who made a remarkable transition from a career as a shearer to pursuing medicine. At the age of 27, he enrolled in a Bachelor of Science after being inspired by personal experiences with healthcare, including his partner's retraining as a pharmacist and his sister's battle with leukaemia. Throughout his medical training, he drew parallels between the physical and mental demands of shearing and medicine, emphasizing resilience and persistence. He aims to work in rural medicine, hoping to serve communities similar to the one he came from, and recently celebrated his graduation as a significant milestone for both himself and his family.
