Ülo Nugis

Ülo Nugis was a prominent Estonian politician who played a significant role in the country's transition from Soviet rule to independence in the early 1990s. He served as the chairman of the Estonian Supreme Council, where he was instrumental in the passage of key legislation that affirmed Estonia's sovereignty, including the law that officially changed the name of the state from the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic to the Republic of Estonia.
