
Ulrich Edward Aron
Ulrich Edward Aron was a prominent Surinamese politician and public servant, best known for his role as the former chairman of the National Assembly (DNA) and the Court of Audit of Suriname. He studied public administration in the Netherlands and returned to Suriname in the early 1980s. As a member of the '25 Februari Beweging', the precursor to the National Democratic Party (NDP), Aron was appointed as chairman of the transitional parliament in 1985, tasked with preparing a new constitution. He later became the chairman of the Court of Audit in 1998, serving until 2008, and was instrumental in developing research programs to enhance governmental financial oversight. Aron authored several works, including a biography that reflects on his life's contributions. He passed away at the age of 80 after a brief illness.
