The Unknown Colonel, a former commander of a division in a military unit stationed in the Kherson direction, was recently in the news for being arrested by the State Bureau of Investigations (ДБР) in Ukraine. He stands accused of systematically extorting nearly 1 million hryvnias from his subordinates by demanding bribes in exchange for vacation approvals and threatening disciplinary action for fabricated offenses. The investigation revealed that the Colonel not only accepted cash but also received various goods and services, including personal electronics and items for his children, effectively abusing his position of authority within the military.
