The hotel manager was one of three individuals who tragically lost their lives in February while managing a hot spring source in Takayu Onsen, Fukushima. This incident highlighted the dangers faced by 'yumori' (hot spring caretakers) who are responsible for maintaining the safety and cleanliness of hot spring facilities, despite the lack of specific safety regulations for their work. The manager, along with their colleagues, succumbed to hydrogen sulfide poisoning while navigating hazardous conditions, underscoring the life-threatening nature of their job.
