This unnamed lieutenant in the Russian army was recently sentenced to 18 years in prison for the brutal murder of a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman in the occupied Lugansk province. The crime, which involved a violent altercation stemming from an extramarital affair, horrified many due to its brutality; the lieutenant and his subordinate bound and tortured the victim before ultimately stabbing her multiple times. The lieutenant was also known for creating poetry that glorified the Russian invasion of Ukraine and appeared in a propaganda film by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
