Unknown Russian Woman
A Russian woman was apprehended at customs in Sochi while attempting to smuggle gold jewelry valued at 56 million rubles, which included nearly 1,600 pieces of various designs, some featuring engravings from luxury brands like Cartier and Bvlgari. She had hidden the items in her handbag and a special waist belt with pockets, allegedly at the request of an acquaintance, planning to deliver them to another recipient in Sochi. Authorities have initiated a criminal case against her for contraband under Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code, which carries a potential sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
