Urbano Ciacci

Urbano Ciacci, born in Fano 91 years ago, is the sole Italian survivor of the Marcinelle mining disaster that claimed the lives of 262 workers in 1956, of which 136 were Italian. He escaped the tragedy because he was not in the mine on that fateful day, as he was celebrating his wedding. Ciacci's experiences serve as a poignant reminder of the human cost of workplace safety failures.
