
Uri Hafez
Professor Uri Hafez is a distinguished economist specializing in macroeconomics and monetary policy. He holds a bachelor's degree in physics and philosophy from Tel Aviv University, along with a master's and doctorate in economics from Princeton University. Hafez is a full professor in the Economics Department at Hebrew University and at Cornell University's Business School. In 2017, he became a research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and has served as co-chair of the Public Council for Statistics since 2024. Recently appointed as a member of the Monetary Committee of the Bank of Israel, he is expected to contribute significantly to discussions on interest rates and economic policy.
