Uri Ilan

Uri Ilan was a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) who became a national symbol of heroism after he chose to take his own life rather than betray his country while in Syrian captivity. During the 1967 Six-Day War, Ilan was captured and faced the threat of being forced to divulge sensitive military information. In a poignant act of bravery, he left behind a note stating, 'I did not betray,' cementing his legacy as a 'Hero of Israel' and representing the ultimate sacrifice for his nation.
