Urraca Alfónsez (1081-1126) was a significant historical figure, recognized as the first reigning queen of León and the first queen regnant of Hispania. Her reign was marked by political turmoil and conflict, particularly with the ecclesiastical and noble powers of her time. Despite being described negatively by contemporary chroniclers, Urraca demonstrated remarkable resilience and capability, ruling effectively in a patriarchal society, and is remembered for her contributions to the church and society, as well as for her tumultuous marriages, the last of which ended in her death during childbirth.
