Utnapishtim

mythological figure Unknown

Utnapishtim is a character from the ancient Mesopotamian Epic of Gilgamesh, known as the immortal survivor of a great flood. He is often likened to Noah from the Biblical account, having been granted eternal life by the gods after he built a massive boat to save his family and various species from impending doom. In the epic, he serves as a wise figure who imparts knowledge to Gilgamesh about the nature of life and death, ultimately teaching him that immortality is not attainable for mortals. Utnapishtim represents themes of wisdom, mortality, and the quest for understanding one's place in the universe.
