
Valdis Valteris
Valdis Valteris is a celebrated Latvian basketball legend, known for his outstanding achievements on the court, including winning six medals with the former Soviet Union national team, such as gold at the 1982 World Championship and the 1981 and 1985 European Championships. After a successful playing career, he transitioned into coaching and sports commentary, establishing his own basketball school in Riga. Recently, at the age of 67, Valteris announced his entry into politics, aiming to participate in the Riga municipal elections, emphasizing the need for action in challenging political times and positioning himself as a challenger to prominent political figures in Latvia.
