Valerian Evgenievich Lyakhnitsky was a prominent Russian engineer and photographer born in Bern, Switzerland, in 1885. He is best known for his detailed photographs taken during the construction of the Petrovsk-Nikolayevsky Bridge in Grodno between 1907 and 1908, which provide an invaluable visual record of the engineering practices of the time. His work laid the foundation for a distinguished career in civil engineering, including significant contributions to the construction of ports in Russia and numerous scientific publications.
