Valeriu Traian Frenţiu was a prominent Greek-Catholic bishop of Oradea Mare who became a martyr during the communist regime in Romania. He was imprisoned for his steadfastness to his faith and ultimately died in prison in 1952, becoming a symbol of resistance against the forced integration of the Greek-Catholic Church into the Romanian Orthodox Church.
