Vânio Korrêa

Vânio Korrêa, a 67-year-old retiree, has lived in Ramos, part of the declining Zona da Leopoldina, for nearly five decades. He has witnessed the area's transformation from a vibrant community to a 'ghost town,' losing nearly 19% of its population due to neglect and violence. Korrêa has deep roots in the region, having worked various jobs, including as a salesman, and he was a long-time performer with the samba school Imperatriz Leopoldinense. He passionately reflects on the changes in his neighborhood, which he considers his home and inspiration.
