Vasili Smislow

Vasili Smyslov was a Soviet and Russian chess grandmaster and World Chess Champion who was active during the mid-20th century. Renowned for his positional understanding and endgame skills, he became World Champion in 1957 and is remembered as one of the leading players of his time.
