Vasilis Kaskarelis

Vasilis Kaskarelis is a prominent Greek diplomat and author, known for his extensive career in the Greek diplomatic service from 1974 to 2013. He served as the General Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Greece's ambassador to Washington from 2009 to 2012. In 2023, he held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs in a caretaker government. Kaskarelis is noted for his analytical work, including his recent book titled 'The Greek Perfect Storm and the Problems of the European Union 2004-2013', which examines the failures of Greece and the EU in predicting and managing crises.
