Vasily Klochkow

Vasily Klochkow was a Soviet military officer and is best remembered for his courageous leadership during the Battle of Moscow in World War II, particularly as a political officer of the 28th Panfilov Division. His famous quote, 'Great Russia, but there is nowhere to retreat. Behind us is Moscow!' became a symbol of resistance and patriotism. Klochkow's legacy is honored at the Memorial of Glory in Almaty, embodying the sacrifices made by soldiers during the war.
