Veaceslav Ionel, son of the deputy commander of the General Inspectorate of Carabinieri, Vasile Ionel, has been accused of defrauding multiple individuals out of approximately $220,000 under the pretext of selling cars from the United States. He was extradited from the United States in December 2025 after being sought by Moldovan authorities for fraudulent activities.
