
Veselin Metodiev
Professor Veselin Metodiev, born in 1957 in Silistra, Bulgaria, is a renowned historian, politician, and long-serving member of parliament. He served as vice-prime minister and minister of education and science from 1997 to 1999. A prominent academic, he teaches history at New Bulgarian University and has published extensively on Bulgarian state institutions, including his latest work, 'A Book for Modern Bulgarians.' Metodiev played a significant role in the restoration of the Democratic Party in the 1990s and was instrumental in the opening of the State Security archives. He received the Christo G. Danov National Award for Humanities in 2019.
