Vespasian was a Roman emperor who ruled from 69 to 79 AD and is best known for initiating the construction of the Colosseum in Rome. His reign marked the beginning of the Flavian dynasty, and he is recognized for restoring stability to the Roman Empire after a period of civil war. The Colosseum, completed under his son Titus, became a symbol of Roman engineering and entertainment.
