Víctor Ávila Ducasa, born in Panama in 1939, was a prominent figure in the Panamanian student movement, known for his role during the patriotic events of January 1964 and as the Secretary General of the Federation of Students of Panama from 1962 to 1965. He studied at the University of Panama and the University of Chile, returning to Chile in the 1970s to teach. Ávila made significant contributions to the field of history at the University of Panama, authored influential works on Marxism and national identity, and passed away recently at the age of 86.
